Presets and starter packs
A starter pack opens the map on a way of living: a set of amenities, each with a travel mode and a time limit, so you see where all of them are within reach. Daily needs are on foot; rarer or sparser trips use transit or a bike. A preset is a set you save yourself.
Starter packs
Section titled “Starter packs”Once a pack is open you can add or remove amenities. You can also change any amenity’s mode or limit with plus. You can share the map you have adjusted: its link carries your full selection.
Each pack has a short link (aportee.ca/family, and aportee.ca/fr/family in French). Adding
?pack=family to any map link, such as a city page, opens that place on the pack; amenities or
modes already in the link take precedence over the pack’s.
We chose the packs and their limits as a starting point, so each map still reads as “what is close to home”. Until you change a pack, a note above the amenities says why we chose its places and limits. Adjust them to fit your own household.

Presets
Section titled “Presets”The Presets button opens a panel beside the sidebar with the four starter packs and your own presets: named sets of amenities, each with its travel mode and limit (and, for transit, its period and statistic), and the map view the preset was saved on. Choosing one replaces the amenity rows, and Undo on that preset restores the previous rows. You can keep up to 20 presets. The button is the bookmark at the end of the Add an amenity row.
