What this is
à portée is French for within reach. It maps how far the nearest everyday amenities
are on foot, including grocery stores, playgrounds, pharmacies and more, for every block in
Canada.
How to read it
Each block is shaded by walking time to the amenities you’ve selected, to match the distance
to the farthest one. We take hills and other factors into account.
Data sources
Amenity data is from OpenStreetMap and, for health facilities, StatCan’s health-facility
registry. Block geography is from StatCan too. Amenity data and routing is refreshed monthly,
most recently on July 1, 2026, and any issues can be reported here.
